Why is it necessary to apply modern chipping technology in the wood chip production process?
The wood chipping process using outdated equipment often results in many drawbacks such as: low output, high labor costs, uneven chip size, material waste, and frequent machine breakdowns. Conversely, modern chipping technology – especially high-capacity drum and disc chippers – allows businesses to:

Receiving and gathering raw materials

After drying, wood chips are stored in airtight warehouses or packed in Jumbo bags depending on the purpose. - Choose high-quality raw materials right from the start: The wood must be fresh, free from rot, and without nails or impurities. Without proper control from this stage, the quality of the wood chips will suffer immediately.
- The moisture content of wood should always be checked: Wood that is too wet is prone to mold, while wood that is too dry will produce a lot of dust when chopped and will be easily broken. Use a moisture meter for quick and accurate testing.
- The shredding machine must run steadily and at a consistent speed: If the machine runs unevenly, the resulting chips will not be uniform. Installing sensors to monitor vibration, temperature, and load is an effective way to ensure the machine runs smoothly.
- Carefully screen the wood chips after chopping: This is the “gold standard” step. The chips that meet the standards are retained, while the smaller and larger chips are discarded or reprocessed. The more thorough the screening, the better the quality of the final product.
- If exporting, wood chips must be thoroughly dried and their moisture content measured: The Japanese and Korean markets are very strict about moisture levels. Many shipments are returned simply because this stage was not properly controlled.
- Storage facilities must ensure good ventilation: Prevent wood chips from being exposed to rain, high humidity, or mold. If necessary, cover with tarpaulin, use ventilation fans, or construct a specialized enclosed storage facility.
- Each production batch should have a traceability code: Clearly recording the production date and time, which materials were used, and which shift was involved. If a problem occurs, it’s easier to find the cause and fix it quickly.
